Ok my friends, so I am posting this for 2 reasons: 1st) so everybody knows I am *** (no, really, you'll understand if you read this); 2nd) To spread the word about CarHop and UAC and their bad, misleading, caniving practices...

In March, I bought a car from CarHop. And most of you know I am not savy at all when it comes to financing. I have no clue how they approved me since I was already in a loan with Bill iin another car and there was no way they could qualify me. Since I have this car, I had taken to the shop at least 2 times, they messed up my registration papers, they never responded when I contacted their "supposed warranty service. Anyways, if they misplaced my payment they woul harass my references even though it's illegal (since they know where I live). So, I became very very frustrated with them. For many reasons, the payments (which are, by the way, bi-weekly) they assigned to me were getting heavy on my budget and I was struggling with them. I 've tried many avenues: refinancing the car, getting a second job, even getting loans to pay for the car. But nobody would refinance me since I am already in another loan and Bill has no meanings of refinancing his car now. I even thought about giving back the car. However, I did find out them that they were charging me 5x times the blue book value of the car. And, by the way, they never told me I had a grace period to return the car. The best approach to me was to be honest with UAC (CarHop's financing company) and tell them of my situation and see if they would work with me to lower the payments and extend the loan. And so I did. At first, I got to talk with a nice lady, Echo, who told me to send documents that indicate I could not pay that amount anymore and that she would talk with her supervisor to get my payments reduced. Well, what do you know? It's just my luck that she got transferred and I got stuck with this guy named Mark. Well, Mark really does not care. After explaining the situation to him, here were his suggestions: "that I would go to a non profit organization to get them to pay my rent so I can pay the car", "that, yes, I could affor my payments, if I forgo my health insurance (I can't waive my coverage) and stop contributing to my 401k and life insurance" (basically not having any benefits, "that I stopped paying my other bills or get food stamps so I can pay the car". He was one minute from suggesting that I *** myself to pay the car. Can you believe it? Finally, I told them "Look, we both know that you are charging me more than the car is worth and that if I return it you are going to lose money." However, I don't think they will budge. Their website promises that they will work with you but that's not true. They promise you warranty for the car, they never contact you when you need. So, yes, I was ***. But they are also a misleading company. They make you think you can afford what they are offering you but you end up stuck with a lemon.

Hey guys! So I had gotten a car from carhop back in 2015.

I was making payments on time until I had lost my job and couldn't make any payments so I had talked to them about it and asked them to come repo the car.

They eventually sold it and now I'm getting sued for the amount that was left on the car! What do I do?

Yeah my husband is paying off a piece of trash car now. They've really been {{Redacted}}.

They keep telling him he's late and he's not. He pays 200 every two weeks. He doesn't always get paid on Friday...They consider Monday late. I really want to file a claim against them.

His credit is good, so we don't want a repo. We thought about selling, but we're upside down. This is a trick bag. The only thing I can think is doing a class action.

Getting a bunch of us together and file together on the claim. Filing for poor business practices, among other things. I work in the legal/Criminal Justice arena... I want to ask a few buddies I know in the DAs office.

They'd be the best avenue because they'd be the ones who determine if there's a viable case. Idk, it's just like preditory colleges.

What did you end up doing? I am in a similar situation with them and am about to let them just have the car because I don't want the payments anymore.

My credit is *** already so they can't hurt that by adding repossession to it. I agree I was charged 6x what the car is worth, their collections are aggressive and threatening and my car has run well...but it's just not worth the money.

I was desperate for a car and they were glad to put me in well over my head. Thanks for your post.

I had a question about ur comment about car hop? How come u never jus took the car back to car hop and gave them the keys and left? What's the worst they could do cuz I am stuck in the Same position as ur post and dealing with an eviction notice cuz the payments r so high for the car, can't u jus leave the car there if it's that bad?

You can take it back, but it's considered a "voluntary repossession". They will still pursue collections on the remaining balance until they get their money back.

My Fiance' is going threw a similar issue he begged and pleaded with them to work with him due to a baby on the way and he lost his job. he was doing low paying side jobs and what do they do..

set up auto pay w/o his consent. now they want us to take the car back as well as pay the balance. we are still both unemployed and a baby due next month they hurass our refrences, family and friends.

they are nothing but rude and refused to fix any of the issues like bad front wheel bearings. one tire was bigger then the rest and to back up when we got the car it wasz a desprit time and they didnt even let us pick a car we wanted one that wasnt a stick (i cant drive them) and had more miles but noooo.

Did you give car back? What was the outcome

Guest

I agree with you 100% man

Yeah ive had problems as well with uac. Ive been reading comments from other ppl.

My problem is when you call to make payment no one will answer. So in turn they will start making threats. Like one person said they charge five times more than car is worth. Im in process of getting true value of my car and when i get truth im taking it to attorney General.

And one more problem with these ppl. I recently change jobs was getting paid once a week now twice a month. I told them changes. They refuse to make charges.

So now my monthly payment went from 288 to almost 600 a month. These ppl a real ripoff

I just bought a car from them and now my engine is seized and it doesn't work anymore and I have only had my car for not even 4 months. They keep saying they will fix it but they haven't and everything seemed to not be covered under warranty. I will never go back to them they steal money from people and they over charge their cars.

Reading so many of yall's comments and it's the same thing I went through in 2010-****. I bought a car from CarHop and UAC financed in July 2010.

Immediately had problems with the car to the point it wouldn't even get me to point A to point B. Like you all, I had nothing but problems with the so called warranty department and after the car would no longer go, I called them up to come pick it up. Yeah it's on my credit and is it fair???? Nope not one bit, but UAC doesn't care about their customers or the fact CarHop doesn't honor their contracts that they promise the buyers.

2 year warranty on the car my ***! Seriously stay away from them.

I'm stuck with a charge off on my credit and believe me, I won't pay a dime towards it. They sale nothing but lemons and take advantage of those who have fallen on hard times in their past!

Wow. This is the same thing I've experienced.

I bought this car back in 2011. It is a charge off on my record as well but they would not come pick it up and all their locations in my area closed. This thing has been sitting in my driveway for over 3 years now because I don't have any proof that I bought the car to junk it and they won't send me anything.

I never had the crap registered because it broke down before the temp tags expired. This is so sad.

I just bought a 2004 jeep Cherokee . The brake make a clicking noise when applying, engine make ticking noise from lifters and transmission *** .

Took to the shop got an estimate know carhop and warranty department is ignoring my calls. Jay from Everett carhop keeps canceling my appointment. Is there a way we can do a lawsuit.

When the claim the sell there vehicle with 18 months or 18,000 mile warranty. I bought it in September
